Andrew Stunell MP has welcome the Fraud Preventative Initiative, launched this week by Crimestoppers and APACS (UK Payments Association), to raise awareness amongst consumers about what they can do to protect themselves from becoming victims of fraud. Hazel Grove MP, Mr Stunell commented: "Don't make fraud easy. It is important to keep your personal information and documents from getting into the hands of fraudsters. "Everyone has a part to play in making sure that they, and their family, do not become victims. "You can make life harder for fraudsters by following simple rules, like never writing down passwords, login details or PIN numbers, and never letting your cards out of your sight." ENDS Notes to editors 1. Total card fraud amounted to £209.3 million in the Jan-June2006 2. For more details, please see http://www.apacs.org.uk/media_centre/press/06_07_11.html
